Nina Köpke

My background is in Cognitive Neuroscience, with a research focus on human brain development and neuropsychiatric disorders. During my research training, I investigated neurodevelopmental processes, including prefrontal cortex development and specifically the postnatal development of the serotonergic system. This work sparked my interest in post-mortem human brain research and in understanding the biological mechanisms underlying neuropsychiatric disorders.

Within the iCNS consortium, I work as a Research Technician in Work Package 1, where I am responsible for tissue dissemination and Phase 2 cryosectioning of approximately 850 human brain donor samples. I support the distribution of high-quality tissue material to researchers working towards the development of a molecular human brain atlas.

Through this work, I contribute to iCNS’s aim of advancing our understanding of the molecular and cellular organisation of the human brain in health and neuropsychiatric disorders, with a particular focus on neuron-glia interactions.
