On 21 November, Boudewijn Lelieveldt, Professor of Biomedical Imaging at LUMC and iCNS International Advisory Board member, will give a lecture on the Human and Mammalian Brain Atlas Project (HMBA). He will discuss the challenges of creating standardized anatomical frameworks for human and mammalian brains and highlight how advanced data-visualization techniques support the development of large-scale brain atlas initiatives.

The Dick Swaab Award 2025 was awarded to dr Giorgia Tosconi, researcher at the Netherlands institute for Neuroscience. The award ceremony took place during the the recent visit of Queen Maxima to the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience. Since 2024, the Dick Swaab award is awarded yearly to a junior researcher who stands out for their innovative research and significant contribution to the international scientific debate.

On September 18, 2025, her majesty the Queen visited the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience. On this special occasion, relevant partners in brain research came together: future brain donors, psychiatrists, researchers, and relatives of deceased patients. Future brain donors played a central role, sharing their stories and the impact of living with a brain disease. The past and future of the Brain Bank was discussed, aimed at improving diagnostics for patients with psychiatric brain disease.
