iCNS warmly congratulates our Executive Board member and Co-Principal Inverstigator, Professor Mario van der Stelt, on receiving the 2026 Mechoulam Award during the 36th Annual International Cannabinoid Research Society (ICRS) Symposium, held in Dijon, France, from June 28 to July 2, 2026. 

The Mechoulam Award is named after Professor Raphael Mechoulam, whose pioneering work laid the foundations of modern cannabinoid research. The award honors scientists who have made sustained and significant contributions to cannabinoid and endocannabinoid research, advanced the field through innovative discoveries, and demonstrated a strong commitment to mentoring the next generation of researchers. 

Mario van der Stelt’s work has been important in advancing our understanding of the endocannabinoid system. His research has contributed to the discovery of new biological mechanisms and therapeutic opportunities, while his longstanding commitment to mentorship and scientific leadership has helped shape the field. 

This award not only recognizes Mario's scientific achievements, but also his dedication to collaboration, mentorship, and advancing the cannabinoid research community. We are proud to have him as a member of the iCNS Executive Board and congratulate him on this well-deserved honor.
