My research focuses on using human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) to investigate the biological mechanisms underlying psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders. We employ hiPSC lines where we introduce genetic variations related to the development of schizophrenia, and subsequently differentiate them into neurons, astrocytes, mixed neural networks, or cortical organoids. This provides human experimental models to study how the genetic burden for psychiatric disease manifests in neural networks. We complement the genetic approach with the chemical tools developed within iCNS to study molecular pathways related to the endocannabinoid system.
