Queen Maxima visits Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience

On September 18, 2025, her majesty the Queen visited the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience. On this special occasion, relevant partners in brain research came together: future brain donors, psychiatrists, researchers, and relatives of deceased patients. Future brain donors played a central role, sharing their stories and the impact of living with a brain disease. The past and future of the Brain Bank was discussed, aimed at improving diagnostics for patients with psychiatric brain disease. Psychiatrists shared their insights into the important link between brain research and clinical practice. Finally, her majesty the Queen was shown around the various laboratories, followed by open discussions between researchers, future brain donors and other participants.

The Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience thanks all participants for their contributions. This moment celebrated the 40-year anniversary of the Brain Bank, but it also served as an opportunity to stress the importance of brain donors and research.
