Our research within the iCNS focuses on the development of chemical probes to visualize and modulate proteins involved in psychiatric disorders. We specifically focus on studying the complement system, an important part of the innate immune system. The complement protein cascade plays an important role in brain homeostasis, however abnormal functioning may result in neuronal defects. In close collaboration with researchers within the iCNS consortium our aim is to visualize the activity of complement proteins in a spatiotemporal manner to fundamentally understand their role in synaptic maintenance and health.
