As a neuroscience group with a focus on glial cells, our research focusses on brain region specificity in glial responsiveness and their interaction with neuronal cells or axons under neuroinflammatory conditions. To this end we use human post-mortem brain material (e.g. organotypic slice cultures) as well as hiPSC derived grey and white matter-like co-cultures. In the context of WP5 of the iCNS project, we can contribute by testing whether certain proteins coming from transcriptomic analyses are present in our test systems and are regulated under relevant psychiatric conditions. Moreover, manipulation of potential pharmacological targets can be performed.
